Capture One How-to: Change the Viewer Window Background Color

Give your eyes a break.

Right-click the Viewer window in the empty space, not on the image. Choose your color from the drop-down menu. Repeat as desired.

Here’s a useful Capture One tip for viewing images and it’s super simple. You can change the background color of the Viewer window to make it easier to view images. The options vary from black to white. There was a time when the only color available for the background was just dark grey or black, depending on the version of Capture One Pro. Then there was a time you had to change the background color in the Settings panel (back when it was called Preferences). Now you can just right-click the Viewer background and pick your shade of choice. Big improvement. Not sure when this was added but it can make a huge difference when you’re working fast. Whether, on set or while editing, quickly flip between Viewer colors to view your images with less distraction. You may want darker images to display on white or lighter shades, while having lighter images show up on a dark background. Play around with it and you’ll find your sweet spot. But, you’ll also find yourself swapping back-and-forth because it’s so easy.
